Today's java updater says something about licensing and continue. Older version had an option to not remove old versions - that is no longer the case. This newest installer unceremoniously removes older java versions.
While you can still download archive older versions, finding out what version(s) it just removed is not straightforward. You can spin up eventvwr.msc and go to Windows Logs > Applications > Filter Current Log... > event sources dropdown > MsiInstaller > OK and look for event IDs of 11724 and 1034, and hope that gives you enough clues as to what was removed.
If you didn't run the new updater yet, you can go to search > control panel >programs and features > look for installed java versions, and hope you can still get a copy of the installer of the version you have. https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/downloads/archive/ is still available at the moment.
affected things: proprietary and/or obsolete systems such as older Ubiquiti detection softwares for older devices.
This is not to be seen as approval for running older java, but for some operators that maintain obsolete systems, this will prove important info - and they should know how to mitigate risks.
